Hello My name is Jason, the founder of K9KIN.

My Canine training journey started over 10 years ago when a close family friend had extended his family with a beautiful St. Bernard puppy. He was finding it difficult to train the puppy basic commands and the toilet training. He asked me to ‘have a go’ as he knew my love for dogs. I started off with the basic ‘sit’ command, like most people I turned to the internet to watch a video of how to teach this. I tried to imitate the video and the puppy was not having any luck, I watched another video trying a different technique and still no luck, after several videos and several attempts I finally found one that gave me and the puppy success.

My next question was why did these previous techniques fail with the puppy and this particular one work?

I asked my friend if I could continue helping with the training of his puppy as I was interested in seeing what worked for this puppy. This brought me to my first course which was about canine emotion and cognition, once I learned this course I had a deeper understanding of how the canine mind works, I now had the desire and drive to learn more.

I started volunteering at rehoming shelters learning from different breeds with different issues, this led to courses on behavior, development, and body language.
My favorite course is still the dog breed course where I learned about each, individual breed (at the time of learning) then extended that with new breeds. All these courses together I was having more and more success with rehabilitating dogs with undesirable behaviors, helping surrendered dogs find a new home and strengthening the bond between families and their dogs.

I wanted to share my knowledge to help bring families and their dogs closer together in bonding, understanding, love and respect. K9KIN was created.

I have been fortunate enough to teach my courses and help families and dogs in Canada, England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and USA. I have also worked with rehoming shelters and one on one training at these locations. I have worked with some of the best trainers and behaviourists and completed new courses to keep deepening my knowledge so I can bring my clients the best courses and training. I was able to be part of a team to relocate a wolf pack into a zoo.
